Travis Air Force Base sheet metal workers visit Local 104 Bay Area Industry Training Fund

On October 27, 2023, civilian and military members of the Travis Air Force Base 60th Sheet Metal Maintenance Squadron visited and toured the Fairfield Sheet Metal Training Center. The tour highlighted many of the skills used by sheet metal workers that are common in both aircraft maintenance and HVAC/architectural metals workplaces. Career paths including HVAC service mechanic, building trades sheet metal worker and testing, adjusting and balancing technician were detailed to those in attendance. Instructors discussed outreach efforts for skilled and trained workers and qualified contractors, as well as the programs and opportunities for veterans leaving military service. Service members on the tour learned how they can utilize the skills they have attained while serving in the Air Force later, in the private sector, by joining the unionized building trades.
