Original Sign from the San Leandro Training Facility, 1700 Marina Blvd., San Leandro, California – This sign was originally displayed on the exterior of the building, facing south, for over 20 years. The base plate is brass, and the cover plate is stainless steel. The brass base plate was plain and unmarked, but due to more than two decades of exposure, patina added to its character — I think we can all agree with the definition from Merriam-Webster, “a surface appearance of something grown beautiful, especially with age or use.”
